The Gun Sculpture was created by artists Sandra Bromley and Wallis Kendal.

It took five years to complete and had its premier Canadian exhibition in Edmonton at the Art Gallery of Alberta (former EAG) and its European premier as a featured exhibit in the Canadian Pavilion, Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany .....more

Interesting Facts

  • Over  8000 weapons were donated from countries around the world, 7000 were used in the  Gun Sculpture. Smaller works were made with the remaining 1000

  • Although the Gun Sculpture weights five tons it was made to tour and comes apart into 14 units for crating and shipping 
  • The artists personally deactivated over 4000 guns
  • The Gun Sculpture entered the USA in a Canadian Government "diplomatic bag" due to US customs not allowing deactivated weapons to cross the border  more
